1. Empowering Educators, Parents, and Caregivers to Combat Depression
Our signature program targets educators, parents, and caregivers in underserved communities, equipping them with practical tools to foster mental well-being and resilience.
In Africa, up to 40.8% of adolescents experience emotional and behavioural problems, with trauma, depression, and anxiety being alarmingly common. Left unaddressed, these issues carry through adolescence into youth and adulthood, contributing to high suicide rates.

ELIGIBILITY
Open to Educators and Parents/Guardians within the educational institutions’ community. This ensures streamlined logistics and a focused impact within connected families and schools.
Requirements for Schools and Parents/Guardians:
- Location: Schools must be within Nairobi and its environs for easier coordination and logistics.
- Program Structure: The training consists of three 3-day residential sessions held during school holidays.
- Logistics: Schools are responsible for organizing transportation and ensuring participants attend all sessions to qualify for certification.
- Commitment: Schools and participants must commit fully to the program and actively support the engagement of both educators and parents/guardians.
- Priority: Preference is given to schools and families with strong community ties and a demonstrated need for mental health support.
FINANCIAL AID
The training is fully sponsored by the Trust. The sponsorship covers:
- Tuition, accommodation, meals, and personal amenities during the three residential sessions
- Access to leadership development and mental health resources
- Inclusion in an exclusive alumni network for continued support and growth
Participants must meet eligibility criteria and commit to completing the full program to receive this sponsorship.
COMMUNITY COMMITMENT AGREEMENT
The training is fully sponsored to ensure that the opportunity is open and accessible to educators and parents from underserved communities. We believe this approach empowers participants to uplift others as they apply what they’ve learned and create positive change.
Details of our Community Commitment Agreement are shared with selected candidates, and a social agreement is signed.
Building Mental Wellness Communities
We expect participants to take what they’ve learned and actively contribute to building mentally healthy communities. This involves applying their skills to support others, initiating mental health initiatives, and fostering environments where well-being is prioritized.
Our vision is for each participant to become a key advocate within their schools and communities, driving forward a culture of resilience and mental health awareness. By embracing this responsibility, participants help to build a sustainable network focused on uplifting others and ensuring long-term community mental wellbeing.

2. EmpowerHer: To Heal from Abuse and Overcome Depression
EmpowerHer: To Heal from Abuse and Overcome Depression has been supporting women since 2018 by providing depression awareness, healing, and self-care skills. The program builds thriving support groups led by trained community leaders. Through this initiative, we create a lasting impact within families and communities.
Eligibility:
Eligibility Criteria for EmpowerHer Program
The EmpowerHer program is open to women who meet the following criteria:
- Experienced Depression Due to Abuse: Applicants must have experienced depression stemming from abuse, as the program is designed to support healing from trauma.
- Age Requirement: The program is available to women aged 18 and above.
- Community Leadership: Applicants must be community leaders responsible for a group of at least 10 women. The program prioritizes women who are already in positions where they can share what they learn with others.
- Family Connection: Preference is given to women with families, ensuring the impact of the program extends into their households and communities.
- Commitment to Learning and Sharing: Participants must be committed to completing the program and passing on the skills and knowledge to their group of 10 women, with a focus on cascading the benefits into families and communities.
FINANCIAL AID
The EmpowerHer program is fully sponsored by the Trust and covers facilitation, training materials, and program resources. The training is delivered directly in the communities in Nairobi, Kenya, over a full week, with sessions running from morning to afternoon. Participants are responsible for providing the training facility, which includes a suitable venue, essential amenities (e.g., toilets), and supplies such as writing pads, pens, lunches, teas, and breaks. Attendance for the entire week is required to receive a certificate.
COMMUNITY COMMITMENT AGREEMENT
Community Agreement:
The EmpowerHer program is fully sponsored to ensure accessibility for women from underserved communities in Nairobi, Kenya. To foster a sense of responsibility and commitment, participants are required to adhere to our Community Support Commitment:
- Full Attendance: Participants must attend all sessions during the week-long training to receive a certificate.
- Shared Responsibility: Communities are expected to provide the training venue, essential amenities (e.g., toilets), and participant supplies such as writing pads, pens, meals, and refreshments.
- Giving Back to the Community: Participants commit to applying what they’ve learned within their community groups, ensuring the benefits of the program extend beyond individual growth and create a ripple effect of support and healing.
- Building a Network of Support: By joining this program, participants agree to contribute actively to a community of women dedicated to supporting each other’s journeys toward healing and resilience.
