A Bespoke Approach for African Communities

One of our key initiatives is the African Mental Health First Aid (AMHFA) program, a community-driven solution empowering individuals to take responsibility for their mental wellness, understand, manage and prevent situational depression support one another and break the stigma of mental ill health.

Think of AMHFA as mental health’s equivalent of physical first aid.  It’s a non-clinical, educational program designed to equip individuals with the skills to provide initial support to someone experiencing a mental health crisis. 

Signs of stress and depression, are the main focus where AMHFA training can make a difference.  Our program goes beyond generic models; it’s specifically tailored to address the challenges faced by communities across the continent.

 

Trained Community Leaders Delivering Hope:

SPHT equips the trusted members of the community with the knowledge and skills to deliver the AMHFA program.  

This ensures cultural understanding and fosters a sense of familiarity for participants.  These leaders, trained by SPHT professionals, become champions for mental well-being within their communities.
