Pioneering African Mental Health First Aid in African Communities

Welcome to Shibero Psychosocial Health Trust (SPHT)

As pioneers in bespoke, Africa-focused Mental Health First Aid (AMHFA). SPHT leads the way in culturally relevant mental health solutions for communities in Africa affected by depression.

The World Health Organization highlights that African countries have the highest suicide rates, largely driven by depression and anxiety. In the African region, 11 out of every 100,000 people die by suicide, exceeding the global average of 9 per 100,000 (December 2023).

Igniting Hope: Empowering Disadvantaged Youth!

Shibero.com Psychosocial Trust (SPHT) is proud to announce the “Pamoja Tunainuka Youth Initiative” (United We Rise), designed and facilitated by Ms. Shibero Akatsa.

Creating Mental Health Environments that Support Mental Wellness in Schools

In 2023, SPHT conducted African Mental Health First Aid talks for educators across various educational institutions. These talks emphasized creating environments that foster mental well-being both in schools and at home. Participants were surprised to learn the significant impact learning environments can have on the mental health of both teachers and students, contributing to stress and even depression.
